The construction began after the 2016–17 Utah Jazz basketball season and was completed during the Fall of 2017. The majority of the construction was related to the building’s renovation, which cost $125 million.
VIVINT ARENA UPGRADE
In September of 2016, the Utah Jazz announced plans to renovate and upgrade the Arena. These new systems were installed in the 2013 NBA off-season. In June of 2013, the Utah Jazz announced that the arena would receive a new scoreboard and ribbon display, which included display screens in each corner of the arena. In October of 2015, the arena was renamed as part of a 10-year naming rights deal with Vivint.ĭuring the summer of 2010, the Arena was renovated, which included installing a playground for kids (Bear’s Backyard), a new dining area for adults, and over 500 TVs. From 2006-2015, it was known as EnergySolutions Arena. Salt Lake City-based EnergySolutions bought the naming rights in November of 2006 after Delta had decided they would not renew their 15-year contract because they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy the year prior. Under a naming rights agreement with Delta Air Lines, the arena was known as the Delta Center, a hub at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
